Summary. The effects of polychlorinated biphenyls on testicular glutathione concentration and the activity of glutathione-related enzymes were studied in adult male rats. The results of these experiments show that the action of high doses of PCBs (0.1 LD50) lead to significantly decreasing the activities of glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase. The tissue glutathione level also was reduced. These results suggest that revealed disorders may play an important role in pathogenesis of male infertility, caused by environmental pollutants.

Summary: Level of low - and medium sized molecules, acid-base balance were studied in 100 patients with acute bowel obstruction. Operations were performed under general anesthesia with nasointestinal intubation. We found that severity of endotoxicosis and metabolic acidosis during nasointestinal intubation does not depend on anesthesia technique.
