1.1 Genesis of CBA-II Project

With support from European Union, CBA-I successfully upscaled UNDP’s experience on area based development approach to the national munity based approach proved to be effective for local sustainable development as demonstrated in 25 regions, 209 rayons, 1143 village/city councils and 1156 local pport structures such as community organisations, local development forum, oblast coordination council, community resource centres were recognised by experts as essential tool to materialise the principles of participatory governance and sustainable development at local level. In a short period of 3.5 years, CBA-I could support 1302 micro-projects thanks to strong support of local/regional authorities to the efforts of rural Ukrainian communities to help-themselves.
