Модальный глагол may и наречие  Potentially (потенциально, возможно) показывают осторожный оптимизм и неуверенность автора в анонсируемых результатах. В то же время каждое из слов exciting, new и possibilities содержит положительную оценку, так же, как и success в следующей фразе.

Однако, говоря о недавних успехах, позволивших излечить некоторых пациентов от аритмии благодаря новому методу, он добавляет наречие Arguably (possibly, conceivably, feasibly, it may be argued)-«возможно, вероятно», т. е. неточно. Т. е., автор опять проявляет осторожность и сдержанный оптимизм.

Caution (care taken to avoid danger or mistakes) must be exerted-автор предупреждает читателя, что необходимо проявлять осторожность при экстраполяции данных, и модальность выражается уже с высокой степенью уверенности, с помощью глагола must.

It is more likely, in fact, that the underlying mechanisms vary according to species and that, in man, multiple mechanisms prevail.

It is more likely указывает на высокую вероятность, с точки зрения автора, различий основных механизмов у различных видов. А in fact - "на самом деле" - предполагает опровержение заблуждения, иллюзии, обмана. Т. е., автор выражает свою оценку ситуации с некоторой осторожностью, но вместе с тем, с довольно высокой степенью уверенности.

В следующем примере автор ищет подтверждения сделанным им выводам в научных наблюдениях:

in a significant number of patients-за счет слова significant-(considerable, substantial, serious, weighty, strong)  фраза приобретает дополнительную значимость, вес.  Речь идет о его гипотезе, и насколько она важна для существенного числа пациентов.

Следующий пример очень интересен:

While this hypothesis has not been tested there, is evidence in the literature that supports it strongly.

Автор честно признает, что гипотеза не была проверена, но при этом ссылается на дополнительные подтверждения этой гипотезы. Его цель убедить читателя не сомневаться в ее истинности. Оценка выражена с помощью supports it strongly.

[63] attributed their success to the fact that the ablated areas were large enough to prevent reentry of multiple wavelets, this could really have represented empiric elimination of potential high-frequency sources. В данном отрывке уже в начале фразы - While Morillo et al. [63] attributed their success to the fact – содержится имплицитная оценка: они приписывали свой успех чему-то (подразумевается, что они ошибались). Эта оценка фактически становится эксплицитной в  this could really have represented – автор выдвигает альтернативное мнение, правда, благодаря использованию модального глагола, оно не выглядит стопроцентной уверенностью. В то же время  исследователь подчеркивает, что основывает свои доводы на тщательном анализе данных: We base such an interpretation on a careful analysis of the data. Сareful - done with or showing thought and attention

В следующем предложении речь идет о дополнительной поддержке гипотезы. Ссылаясь на работу Ройтингера, автор таким образом имплицитно положительно оценивает  поддерживаемую им гипотезу о существовании единственного источника колебаний при возникновении фибрилляции.

Интересно также словосочетание seems to explain nicely: nicely -  satisfactorily; точно, подробно; seems – выражение сомнения. Здесь сталкиваемся с уже наблюдавшейся ранее картиной: положительная оценка  и некоторая доля неуверенности.

Далее автор говорит о  том, что еще необходимо определить – т. е., о еще не сделанном: это имплицитно высказанное отношение к предмету.

Whether such differences explain the ability of the LA to activate at frequencies as high as 18 Hz as well as the LA-to-RA gradient of frequencies during AF [28], remains to be determined.

Далее следует заключение, в котором, как и в аннотации, содержится больше всего оценочной лексики.

However, to our knowledge и remains a mystery.- автор показывает, что для наших знаний этот медицинский факт остается загадкой. Имплицитная оценка современного уровня знаний заключена в слове mystery.

Hence, there is a need-поэтому необходимо. Используя слово  need (thing that is wanted or required), автор показывает, что считает необходимым.

interesting and clinically relevant question: оценка показана через лексику с положительными коннотациями interesting и relevant.
