THE TOWN OF ISHIM

I. Read the text:

1. The town of Ishim is a small provincial town situated in the south of the Tyumen Region, West Siberia.

2. It was founded as a village of Korkinskaya Sloboda on the left bank of the Ishim river in 1680.

3. In 1782 the village got the status of a town and was renamed Ishim.

4 It was a trade and market town.

5. Now Ishim is an agricultural centre of the Tyumen Region.
