STUDYING AT OUR INSTITUTE
I study at the Far East Home Ministry Law Institute of Russia. It is one of the colleges in the system of the Interior. Our college trains lawyers of higher education for the agencies of the Police. There are two departments in it – a day department and a correspondence department for part-time students. I entered the Institute in 2012. Now I am a first year cadet of the correspondence department.
Studying at our department is difficult but necessary. Part-time students work and study at the same time to get a diploma of a lawyer. Twice a year we have an opportunity to attend lectures, seminars and practical instructions. During examination sessions we take exams and credit tests.
We can learn various special subjects which are necessary for our work – crime detection, criminal law and procedure, civil, labour, administrative, international and other laws, crime psychology, criminology and criminalistics. My favourite subject is crime detection.
Special subjects are not the only subjects of our curriculum. Social sciences and foreign languages are in the programme of our studies too. We learn philosophy, logic, theory and history of state and law, and English.
The term of studies lasts six years. After graduating from the Institute I am going to become a highly qualified law enforcement professional and to be moved up.
